The Cape Breton University Capers men's soccer team moved a step closer to a first place finish in the AUS regular season with a 4-2 victory over the Saint Mary's Huskies Saturday in Sydney.
The Capers improved to 7-1-4 on the year heading into Sunday's regular season finale at home against the Dalhousie Tigers. Game time is set for 3:15 p.m.
Tyler Sellars opened the scoring for the Huskies (2-5-5) in the 31st minute, but the lead would be short-lived.
Justin Maheu with his 12th of the season for the Capers in the 37th minute sent the two sides to the locker room deadlocked at 1-1 at halftime.
Stuart Heath recorded his first of the season in the 62nd minute and Shota Ashihara scored what would prove to be the game winner in the 84th minute.
Jeremy Panchuk for the Huskies and Joel Eckert-Ayensa for the Capers, both found the back of the net in the 90th minute to close out the scoring.
Scott Shewfelt had four saves in the CBU goal while Christian Oxner made 11 saves for the Huskies.
