Sea-Hawks Earn Sunday Victory Over X-Men

(St. John's, NL) After a tough start to the season, Memorial notched their first win against the X-Men 80-76 in a great competition. After splitting the two-game series, Memorial becomes 1-5 on the season; St. FX becomes 1-4.

Julius Antoine poured in 21 points, and 5 rebounds for St. FX. Nathan Barker once again led the Sea-Hawks with 30 points; Barker also earned Subway Player-of-the-Game commendations.

After a tough loss the previous night, Memorial came out gunning against St. FX X-Men. Nathan Barker performed consistently in the first half once again, leading Memorial with 15 points on 7/11 shooting. St. FX struggled converting easy buckets early, shooting just 30% from the field.

For the X-Men, the second half was an improvement from their poor shooting at the start, but it was not enough to push them into the lead. The third quarter was a solid showing for X outscoring Memorial 29-20, shooting 71% from the field, a stark contrast to their first half woes.

X carried that momentum into the fourth quarter and took their first lead of the game 61-60, but Memorial quickly responded with a 5-0 run.  The score would remain close for the remainder of the quarter, but the Sea-Hawks were able to hold onto their lead and secured their first win of the season.

Memorial hopes to keep this momentum going into their next two-game series against UNB on November 25th, and 26th. The games will be available online at AUStv.ca
