(Halifax, NS) – Under the setting Halifax sun, the Dalhousie Tigers hosted the undefeated Acadia Axewomen at Wickwire field. Jenna Boudreau was the difference maker in this one, scoring two unassisted goals to help her team to a 2-0 win.

The action got started early for the Tigers in the eighth minute when Maya Venkataraman (Summerland, BC) rang a long shot off the crossbar from far outside the box.

During a mostly quiet first half, the Axewomen struck first in the 40th minute. On a pass back to Tigers keeper Sam Corcoran (Ottawa, ON), her clearing attempt was deflected toward goal off of Jenna Boudreau (Halifax, NS). Boudreau was able to get past Corcoran on the deflection, and was able to walk the ball into the net to open up the scoring.

After a very technical first half, the teams went into the break with Acadia up 1-0.

The Tigers pressured early in the second half, getting deep into the attacking end and forcing corners, but couldn't come up with the equalizer in the opening minutes.

Acadia was able to counter just moments later on a fantastic run by Jayden Boudreau (Halifax, NS) trying to get both sisters a goal in the match, but her long ball got past Corcoran, but Sydney Kenney (Halifax, NS) stepped up at the goal line to clear and make the save.

The Axewomen had another opportunity of their own coming from a corner. The long cross came into the far side of the box with Lauren Jodrey (Bedford, NS) on the end of it, but her header sailed just over the bar.

Jenna Boudreau was able to add another goal to her tally in the game in the 77th minute when she broke down the left side of the box, crossed back to her right foot and sent a hard shot just under the bar to give her team a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers had a few chances off of corners late in the match, but none of them were very threatening. The ref blew the final whistle to signal the end of the game, and the Axewomen came away with the 2-0 win.

Boudreau was named the Subway Player of the Game for picking up the only two goals in the game.

The Tigers are back on the pitch of senior day, this Sunday against UPEI. Acadia will also play against UPEI this weekend when they travel to face them on Saturday.
