WOLFVILLE, N.S. - Three consecutive unanswered goals in the third period by the visiting Moncton Aigles forced the game into overtime as the Hockey Axemen threw out a 3-0 lead heading into the final frame.

First year forward Kyle Farrell (Howie Center, N.S.) was the Subway First star of the game for his heroic winning goal in overtime to give Acadia a 4-3 over Moncton.

Fourth year forward Mike Cazzola (Guelph, Ont.) scored his first of two goals two minutes into the opening period - his first of the regular season. Dylan Anderson (Ottawa, Ont.) scored his 14th career goal to give Acadia a 2-0 lead heading into the closing minutes of the first frame.

Cazzola would add his second goal of the night with less than three minutes remaining in first period to give the Axemen a commanding 3-0 lead.

With a 29-22 shots on goal advantage heading into the final frame, the Axemen continued to lead with 11-3 shots on goal but fell short in scoring. Starting goaltender Brandon Glover (Victoria, B.C.) allowed three goals in four shorts in the third period.

The Aigles Bleus scored 46 seconds into the final period when Victor Beaulac (Saint-Hyacinthe, Que.) started the come-back. Alex Saulnier (Cap-Pelé, N.B.) scored just under four minutes later to close the Acadia lead to 3-2. Mitchell Robillard (Laval-Ouest, Que.) forced the game into overtime with just over 8 minutes remaining in the game.

Kyle Farrell one-timed a pass from Daniel Poliziani (Burlington, Ont.) in extended time to give the Axemen a 4-3 overtime win.

The win is the first of the 2015-16 regular season for the CIS No. 7 ranked Axemen as they improve to 1-1 and face the winless St. Thomas Tommies tomorrow nigth in game two of Homecoming Weekend hockey. The Aigles Bleus drop to 1-0-1 and face the CIS No. 3 ranked Saint Mary's Huskies tomorrow night in Halifax.
