Mounties drop close contest to Panthers

(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mounties hosted the UPEI Panthers in a Wednesday night AUS Women's Hockey action at the Tantramar Memorial Civic Centre. The Panthers would go on to win by a score of 4-2.
The game's first goal came early for the Panthers courtesy of Carly Thompson (Cornwall, PE) after an errant shot found the top part of the net. UPEI would continue to apply pressure and control the better part of the first period.
Mount Allison would equalize just before the first intermission as Chelsea Krahenbil (Winnipeg, MB) pounced on a rebound and made no mistake for her third goal of the season.
With the second period came an abundance of goals as the Panthers pulled ahead by three before Mount Allison got one back to make it 4-2. Goal scorers for UPEI were McKinley Nelson (Calgary, AB), Lexie Murphy (Kensington, PE) and Chiara Esposito (Winnipeg, MB). Rachael Carson (Burlington, ON) would score for the Mounties with a rocket that found the top shelf.
Subway Player of the Game McKinley Nelson (Calgary, NB) from the Panthers finished with two points – one goal and one assist.
UPEI (6-4-1-0) will return home and welcome Saint Mary's on Remembrance Day for a 7 p.m. tilt.
Mount Allison (0-11-0-0) for their part will travel to Halifax to take on Dalhousie on November 12, game time is slated for 7 p.m.
