(Halifax, NS) – The UNB Varsity Reds visited the Dalhousie Tigers at Wickwire Field in Halifax on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, as part of the Tigers season opener. Dalhousie came out of the match with the win by a final score of 2-0.

UNB had the first chances of the game with two shots on goal coming in the early minutes, but Dalhousie's Jensen Hudder (White's Lake, NS) got the scoring started by netting a penalty kick into the bottom right corner, after a handball in the box. That goal was followed up by Rachelle Lalande (Halifax, NS) coming off a corner kick that sailed into the far side of the net in the 27th minute.

The V-Reds managed two more shots in the half, but neither of them found their way to the goal. With that, the first half came to a close with a score of 2-0 for the Tigers.

The Tigers came out with a flurry of 4 shots on goal in the first 4 minutes of the second half, two of them coming from previous goal scorer Lalande, but keeper Brynn Nash (Saskatoon, SK) was up to the task.

Dalhousie did a fantastic job of controlling the possession late in the second half, limiting UNB to just one more scoring chance which was a high header in the box coming from Mackenzie Sinclair (Camperdown, NS).

Tigers keeper Kate Fines (Halifax, NS) earned a clean sheet in her first career AUS game with 3 saves in the contest.

The Subway Player of the Game was goal scorer Rachelle Lalande of Dalhousie.

Dalhousie takes their next game on the road to Acadia University for a 1:00 kick off, while UNB will travel to Cape Breton on the 16th to take on the Capers.
