Noseworthy scores twice as Sea-Hawks top Tigers 5-0

The Memorial Sea-Hawks defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at King George V Soccer Field in St. John's.  Today's game marked the start of the 2016 soccer season for both teams.

Jessie Noseworthy (St. John's, NL) led the way for the Sea-Hawks, scoring twice (55", 70"), while Emily Bailey (Mount Pearl, NL), Jane Pope (St. John's, NL), and Hannah Rivkin (St. John's, NL) each tallied markers (52", 58", 85") for the home side.

The teams battled to a 0-0 halftime score in a tightly played first half.  The Sea-Hawks registered seven shots to the Tigers six, with goalkeepers Taylor Doyle (Burnt's Cove, NL) and Sam Corcoran (Ottawa, ON) making four saves each.

Bailey's early 2nd half goal would turn out to be the winner as Doyle was able to register the clean sheet for the Sea-Hawks.

Jessie Noseworthy was the Subway Player of the Game registering two goals on seven shots, while also adding an assist.

The Tigers will look to rebound tomorrow, as the teams will play the second game of the two game weekend set.  Game time is 1:00pm NST at King George V Soccer Field and can be seen on AUStv.ca.
