Tim Maloney named Director of Varsity Athletics at Dalhousie

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Zane Robison, Dalhousie’s Executive Director, Student Life announced today that Tim Maloney would be joining the Dalhousie family on August 25th as Dalhousie’s new Director, Varsity Athletics.

Tim’s appointment concludes a comprehensive national search for this position.

No stranger to Dalhousie, Tim was raised in Halifax and earned his BSc in Kinesiology here while playing for our varsity men's basketball and soccer teams. For his efforts on and off the field, he was named a CIS Academic All-Canadian in 1998.

Despite moving across the country a year later to pursue an MBA at the University of Alberta, Tim's passion for sport followed him as he quickly found himself on the coaching staff the UofA men's varsity basketball team until 2002.

Tim spent the next 12 years in the private sector gaining valuable experience in the fields of marketing, sales and leadership. Tim joined the team at Canada Basketball as the Manager, Corporate Partnerships & Marketing Properties, where he oversaw sponsorship sales with key clients such as Nike, Rogers Wireless and Gatorade.

He then went on to serve as both Director of Brand Marketing and Director of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships at Purolator Inc. before moving to Promotivate LP, where he assumed the role of Vice-President of Corporate Partnerships in 2013.

As Athletic Director, Tim will oversee Dalhousie's 14 varsity teams which compete in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference within the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) organization.

He will work with our accomplished group of coaches and staff to maintain and enhance Dalhousie's commitment to academic and athletic excellence, and continue to align the department with the university's goals and priorities. Tim will focus on strengthening relationships with alumni and key stakeholders of the University.
