STFX's Jessie Penney and UNB's Cody Morgan named East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athletes of the Week

Jessie Penney from the STFX X-Women rugby team is the East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 5, 2025.

A third-year prop from Clarke’s Beach, N.L., Penney was named Player of the Game in STFX’s 47-12 win over the Acadia Axewomen on Saturday.

She scored four tries in the STFX victory, accounting for 20 of the X-Women’s points and helping her squad clinch first place in the conference standings and hosting rights to the 2025 Bell AUS Rugby Championship final game.

Penney currently leads the conference in scoring with 65 points on the season, and in tries with 13.

Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: Business Administration

Cody Morgan of the UNB REDS men’s hockey team has been named the East Coast Lifestyle AUS Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 5, 2025.

A fourth-year forward from Gilford, Ont., Morgan helped the seven-time defending AUS champion REDS to two weekend home wins to open the 2025-26 season.

He opened the regular season Friday with a goal and two assists in UNB’s 11-2 win over Dalhousie.

He then went on to score two more goals in Saturday’s 5-2 win over STFX—a pair of power play goals just 54 seconds apart—and record another assist to complete an impressive six-point weekend.

Throughout the 2025-26 season, each East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athlete of the Week will receive a $50 ECL gift card and a signed certificate, courtesy of East Coast Lifestyle and Atlantic University Sport.
