Grace Beer of the Dalhousie University Tigers women’s hockey team is the Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 7, 2024.

The second-year netminder from Oakville, ON had a fantastic start to the new year as she led her Tigers to a pair of wins. In Friday’s 3-2 victory over the St. Thomas Tommies, Beer turned aside 37 shots in her team’s 3-2 victory. Just one night later, Beer stopped all 31 shots fired her way as Dalhousie blanked the host UPEI Panthers 1-0.

Beer leads the AUS in games started (14) and sits second in wins (9), saves (433) and save percentage (.944)

Name: Thomas Couture
University: Acadia University
Sport: Men’s Hockey
Position: Goalie
Hometown: Levis, QC
Year of eligibility: First
Academic program: Business Administration

Thomas Couture of the Acadia University Axemen men’s hockey team is the Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 7, 2024.

The Axemen kicked off 2024 with a pair of big road wins and the first-year goalie from Levis, QC played a major role in that. The week started off on Wednesday when Couture earned his first AUS shutout, blanking the host Saint Mary’s University Huskies on 33 saves.

A few days later against the UPEI Panthers, Couture made 21 saves in regulation and overtime before shutting the door on all three shootout attempts to aid his team in securing a 4-3 victory.

Couture is second in the AUS in save percentage (.919) third in games played (16) and saves (431).
