STU's Pietroski and UPEI's Miller named Subway AUS Athletes of the Week

(Halifax, N.S.) After helping their teams earn weekend sweeps, STU goaltender Caroline Pietroski and UPEI guard Elijah Miller are the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 21.

Caroline Pietroski of the St. Thomas University women’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending November 21, 2021. 

A second-year arts student from Etobicoke, Ontario, Pietroski was unbeatable last weekend, stopping 57 shots to force two shutouts as the Tommies defeated the UPEI Panthers (1-0) and the Mount Allison Mounties (5-0). These wins marked her third and fourth shutouts of the season.

Pietroski has started for the Tommies in all 14 games this season and is currently in the top five in the AUS for goals against average (1.86) and save percentage (.928).

Elijah Miller of the University of Prince Edward Island men’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending November 21, 2021. 

A business student from Rexdale, Ontario, Miller led the UPEI Panthers to an eight-point weekend, earning road wins against both the Acadia Axemen and Saint Mary’s Huskies. The second-year guard averaged 19.5 points per game and a 48.3 shooting percentage, as well as 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Miller was named Subway Player of the Game in both match-ups. The Panthers now sit in second in AUS standings.
