(HALIFAX, N.S.) Abby Clarke from the St. Thomas Tommies women's hockey team and Nathan Barker from the Memorial Sea-Hawks men's basketball team have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Abby Clarke from the U SPORTS no. 5-ranked St. Thomas Tommies women’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Jan. 6, 2019.
A fifth-year goaltender from Springdale, N.L., Clarke led the Tommies to a pair of weekend wins over the Saint Mary’s Huskies and the UPEI Panthers.
She made 32 saves Saturday in St. Thomas’s 3-1 win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies in Fredericton. Sunday in Charlottetown, Clarke made 44 saves to secure the shutout and the 2-0 win over the UPEI Panthers. She was named Subway Player of the Game for her efforts.
With the wins, she improved her AUS-leading goals against average to 1.05 and save percentage .961. She also sits atop the AUS in wins, with 13.

Nathan Barker of the Memorial Sea-Hawks men’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Jan. 6, 2019.
A third-year forward from Massey Drive, N.L., Barker put up impressive stats in a weekend split versus the UNB Reds and now sits second in conference scoring with a points per game average of 21.3.
In Saturday’s 91-84 loss to the Reds, Barker led the Sea-Hawks with 26 points to go along with six rebounds and a steal.
On Sunday, he was named Subway Player of the Game after scoring 27 points and added seven rebounds and six assists in Memorial’s 87-77 win over UNB.
