(HALIFAX, N.S.) - StFX X-Women rugby prop Joanna Alphonso and Cape Breton Capers men's soccer forward Charlie Waters have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Joanna Alphonso of the U SPORTS No. 1-ranked StFX X-Women rugby team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 24, 2017.
A fourth-year arts student from Ajax, Ont., Alphonso scored three tries in StFX’s 57-14 victory over the U SPORTS No. 10-ranked Acadia Axewomen Saturday in Antigonish, N.S.
She was named Subway Player of the Game for her efforts. The win moved the X-Women into sole possession of first place in the AUS conference standings.

Charlie Waters of the Cape Breton Capers men’s soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 24, 2017.
A first-year community studies student from Lancashire, United Kingdom, Waters had three points in two weekend wins for the Capers.
In Friday night’s 1-0 win over Acadia, he assisted on the game-winning goal.
Sunday, the Capers topped Memorial 3-2. Waters assisted on both Cape Breton’s first and second goals. He was named Subway Player of the Game in the win.
