(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Kelty Apperson of the St. Thomas Tommies women's hockey team and Marcus Power of the UPEI Panthers men's hockey team have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Kelty Apperson of the St. Thomas Tommies women’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 21, 2016.
A fourth-year arts student from New Hamburg, Ont., Apperson led her team to a two-game sweep of the Dalhousie Tigers in the best-of-three quarter-final round of the Subway AUS Women’s Hockey Championship.
The forward and team captain posted seven points in the two postseason games with four goals and three assists. In Wednesday’s 6-2 win over the Tigers in Game 1 in Fredericton, Apperson scored a natural hat trick which included a short-handed goal as well as the game winner.
She also added an assist in the win and was named the second star of the game.
On Friday, the Tommies completed the series sweep with a 3-1 win over Dalhousie. Apperson recorded the game-winning goal once again, as well as an assist on St. Thomas’ first and third goals. She was named Subway First Star of the game for her efforts.

Marcus Power of the UPEI Panthers men’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 21, 2016.
A second-year business student from St. John’s, N.L., Power posted five points in two postseason games to help lead the Panthers to a two-game sweep of the Acadia Axemen in the best-of-three quarter-final round of the Subway AUS Men’s Hockey Championship.
In Wednesday’s 6-3 win over Acadia in Wolfville, N.S., he posted three assists, including an assist on the game-winning goal on the power play, and was named the second star of the game.
UPEI completed the sweep Friday evening in Charlottetown, P.E.I. with a 4-3 victory in overtime. Power notched an assist on the first goal of the game and then scored the overtime goal to win the game and the series. He was named Subway First Star of the game.
