Acadia's MacKenzie and Dalhousie's Evraire named Subway AUS Athletes of the Week

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Acadia Axewomen rugby winger Maddie MacKenzie and Dalhousie Tigers men's soccer midfielder Bezick Evraire have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week. 

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Name: Maddie MacKenzie
University: Acadia University
Sport: Women’s Rugby
Position: Winger
Height: 5’9”
Hometown: Peterborough, Ont.
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: BSc

Maddie MacKenzie of the CIS No. 8-ranked Acadia Axewomen’s rugby team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 27, 2015.

A third-year science student from Peterborough, Ont., MacKenzie posted two tries in Acadia’s 32-29 victory Sunday over the CIS No. 1-ranked and reigning CIS champion StFX X-Women.

She was named the Subway Player of the Game for her efforts, scoring a tying try at the 28-minute mark of the first half and scoring again with eight minutes remaining in the game to bring the Axewomen to within three points.

Year of eligibility: Fifth

Bezick Evraire of the Dalhousie Tigers men’s soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 27, 2015.

A fifth-year midfielder from Ottawa, Ont., Evraire scored three of the Tigers’ four goals over the weekend, leading the Tigers to a win and a tie.

He scored two goals in the Tigers’ 2-0 victory over the Saint Mary’s Huskies Friday night and notched the first goal of the game in Saturday’s 2-2 tie with the Memorial Sea-Hawks.

His three goals move his regular season total to eight, tying him for first in the AUS scoring race.
